DSC07934Summer Camp was a lot of fun this year.  There were five days of riding, learning about horses and all that goes with them, jumping (both on horses and on foot), games, swimming, campfire with Smores, and friendships.  On Friday afternoon there was a horse show and everyone did great!

DSC07718There were over 20 riders at camp this year.  Every rider made improvements in their riding throughout the week.  Some formed or strengthened friendships that will hopefully last a life time.  Most importantly, their love of horses was deepened and they will have a bond with horses for the rest of their lives.  As Kathy said during one talk, they might be riders, or artists, or vets, or maybe just supporters of someone who rides, but horses are part of their destiny!

As always I will post some of the pictures on the Summer Camp 2018 tab on the left side of the site.  I will also make copies for anyone who wants them, just drop a flash drive off at the barn with your name on it.

We are ramping up for a fun Christmas season this year! Today there was garland going up in the aisles and many crafty/artistic young people decorating their favorite horse’s stall.  It didn’t start out as a contest but it may turn in to one!  Anyone can join in on this fun, just sign up on the board by the wash stall with which stall you’re decorating and get it done before the Christmas party.

DSC00821The Christmas party will be on Saturday, 12/16/17, at about 1:00 in the afternoon.  There will be lots of food, sign up to bring your favorite dish to the pot luck!  As always we’ll have games for the kids and presents for Kathy & JR.  There is a secret Santa gift exchange for the young people.  If you want to participate please fill out a card and place it in the envelope before noon on 12/2/17.  The spending limit for the exchange is $15.

Christmas/Winter Camp will be Wed-Fri, 12/27-12/29/17.  Children can come for daytime only or spend the night. The kids have a great time learning about horses, how to take care of them, riding them and of course hanging out with their friends! (This makes a very nice Christmas present if you’re looking for a special gift for the young rider in your life.)

Coming soon to the website:  a video series with JR Holland training a young horse.
